LifeSkills to sponsor British Commonwealth Boxer, Anthony Fowler.

Liverpool born, Anthony first started boxing when he was 10-years-old, when a friend asked him to go to a boxing session at their local club. He won the ABAE Junior Finals in 2008 and 2009 and in 2010 he became Elite ABAE champion in the welterweight category.

He joined the GB Boxing squad in 2010 and was promoted to the Podium squad in 2011. He won his first international tournament when he secured gold in the welterweight category at the Gee Bee Tournament in Helsinki in April 2011.

Anthony was also part of the British Lionhearts team which competed in the 2012-13 season of the World Series of Boxing. He made an explosive start to the competition when he knocked-out his American opponent, Marquis Moore, in round two of his first contest but unfortunately he injured his hand in the process and was unable to compete again that season.

Anthony cites his uncle, a certain Robbie Fowler (ex Liverpool and England) as the biggest influence on his boxing career and was also inspired by the early career of Ricky Hatton.

Managing Director Spencer Fearn stated “ I have known Anthony for a couple of years now and as well as being an exceptional talent, he is one of the nicest lads you could possibly meet, he has a great chance of bringing the Gold medal back to England and we are delighted that along with Coldwell Boxing, and Stafforce we have been able to help in a small way”

“Doing the course gave me a much better idea of what the job involved. I was much more confident when I went for my interview and knew I had a qualification that counted on my application. I've now been working with children for almost a year.”
